World Bowls Tour (WBT) – World Singles Championship January 2017

Lawn Bowls UK would like to wish Paul Hay all the best in his World Singles Championship when he takes on number 14 seed Jamie Chestney.

Thursday 19th January at 10 am

You will be able to watch Paul’s game on YouTube (as well as all the other games) as it will be streamed live on YouTube at www.youtube.com/worldbowlstour.

Paul is aged just 26 and is one of the youngest qualifiers to have reached the finals of the WBT’s World Indoor Bowls singles. It is a great achievement to reach the final. The experience of playing at the top level and the limited opportunities to qualify means very few bowlers get a chance to play in the finals and it is exceptional to reach the finals while still in your twenties.

There are 32 players in the finals – the top 16 seeded players automatically qualify. The other 16 bowlers are made up of the winners from UK qualifier competitions, there are 2 players with tour cards and there is an overseas player from each of – USA, New Zealand, Australia and Europe (top ranked European). Bowlers can only enter one World Singles qualifying event making it very hard to reach the finals and even harder to make it into the top 16 ranked players.
